Akufo-Addo urges EC to conduct satisfactory elections

Accra, Jan. 14, GNA – Nana Akufo Addo, presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has expressed the hope that the Electoral Commission would conduct this year’s elections satisfactorily. He said this was important to ensure that when the winner of the presidential race was announced it would be met with peace and accepted by all.

He said Ghana was a beacon of Africa and was leading in the reconstruction and recovery of the continent’s fortunes and therefore the need for the country to maintain its respect within the community. Nana Akufo-Addo said these when he fellowshipped with the congregation at the Prayer Cathedral of the Christian Action Faith Ministries in Accra to thank God for his success in the just ended NPP primaries.

A large following of family and party members including Mr Kwamina Bartels, the Interior Minister, accompanied the NPP presidential candidate.

He called for unity and said the election should not divide the nation because stability in the country was in the interest of all. Nana Akufo-Addo said he had sought God’s guidance during his successful bid for the NPP Presidential race and had deemed it necessary to come and fellowship with the church and acknowledge God’s blessings. He asked the congregation to pray individually and as a body for peaceful and successful general elections. Archbishop Nicolas Duncan Willams, overseer of the Church, in a sermon, said time and chance was available to everyone to fulfil purpose and destiny.

He said it was everyone’s duty to find out when their time was due to fulfil their God given destinies
