Akufo-Addo turns valve on FPSO John Agyekum Kufuor

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is expected to turn the valve on the Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) barge – named after former president John Agyekum Kufuor – offshore Cape Three Points on Thursday.

The ceremonial turning of valve is to mark the commencement of commercial oil exploration from Sankofa Gye Nyame Fields.

A 63-kilometer submarine pipeline is expected to transport gas from the Fields to onshore receiving facilities (ORF) at Sanzule for power transmission.

The ceremony offshore is expected to be followed by a durbar of chiefs and government functionaries onshore.

ENI is the operator of the Offshore Cape Three Points (OCTP) bloc with a 44.44 per cent stake while Vitol and Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC) hold 35.56 per cent and 20 per cent respectively.
