Akufo-Addo should have conceded defeat – Sekou

Dr. Sekou Nkrumah, son of Ghana’s First President, says Nana Akufo Addo should have conceded defeat before challenging the results of the December 7 elections.

The NPP has petitioned the Supreme Court, accusing the Electoral Commission of rigging the elections in favour of President Mahama.

Dr. Nkrumah who fell out with the ruling NDC before the elections said although the NPP has the right to seek legal redress, its handling of the matter will affect its future electoral fortunes.

Speaking on Radio XYZ’s Current Affairs Program, the Analyst, Dr. Nkrumah said the NPP politically made some mistakes which led to their defeat.

“I think politically they made some mistakes and it is too late to correct them but personally I would have thought that Nana Akufo-Addo would have conceded defeat and still congratulate John Mahama and still go to court.

“It would be to prove a point…NPP has to be very careful not to lose sympathy because it could affect them going into 2016” Dr. Nkrumah said.

But a leading member of the National Reform Party Dr. David Percy says the NPP has no case.

Speaking on the same platform Dr Percy wondered how the party will challenge only the Presidential and not the parliamentary results.
