Ghana’s President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has disclosed that his government is very concerned about developments in neighbouring Togo.
According to Mr. Akufo-Addo, efforts are being made to ensure that calm is restored in the tiny West African country.
Addressing Chiefs of Aflao at the Flagstaff House when they paid a courtesy call on him, the President said he has had a meeting with the President of Togo over the unrests in his country.
He added that his government will ensure that the unstable political activities in Togo does not have any ripple effect on citizens of Ghana, particularly residents of Aflao.
The Chief of Aflao, Togbe Amanya Fiti V, on his part commended the President for fulfilling his campaign promises such as planting for food and jobs and the free Senior High Secondary School.
He also welcomed the commitment of Government to ensure that the instability in Togo has no bearing on Ghanaian citizens.
In August, two opposition protesters were killed and 13 others wounded when security forces opened fire to break up protests against the Gnassingbe government.
President Faure Gnassingbe took power in 2005 after the death of his father, Gnassingbe Eyadema, who had been at the helm for 38 years.
