Akufo-Addo is becoming a dictator – Anyidoho

Koku Anyidoho is asserting that President Nana Akufo-Addo is gradually becoming a despot and if care is not taken, it will not help anyone.

The Deputy General Secretary of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) in an interview with Kwame Tutu on Rainbow Radio 87.5Fm said, the assigns of the president are insulating him from the real world and urging him to become a dictator.

He said, the president who is touted as a human rights activist and campaigner should not be seen to endorse lawlessness and impunity.

The president he noted campaigned on the grounds of all inclusiveness but few months into his leadership, we are getting to a point where we trying to create a despot out of somebody who is not.

Some leaders including Adolf Hitler and others did not begin as despots but, ‘’it is their people around them who fan their egos and created despots out of them…Let us not allow Nana Akufo Addo to become a despot, it will not help anybody.’’

A despot is a ruler or other person who holds absolute power, typically one who exercises it in a cruel or oppressive way.

Koku Anyidoho making reference to the seizure of cars and attacks on state institutions said, that is the beginning of despotism (Despotism is a form of government in which a single entity rules with absolute power.

That entity may be an individual, as in an autocracy, or it may be a group, as in an oligarchy.), and dictatorship, he added.

He further questioned why the rules of engagement are not being sort but individuals are engaging in lawlessness.

‘’Nana Addo did not come to power through a coup or rebellion, but through an election and so please, let us govern according to the dictates of the constitution. We do not want Akufo Addo to turn into Hitler. We do not want a despot to be created out of Nana Addo. We want him to succeed and so we do not want him to become a dictate. Nana Addo should tell us how he intend to implement his free SHS, pay DKM customers, implement the 1-district-1-factor among other promises but this case where the Lord Commey’s and Co are hiding at the presidency and issuing tyrannical comments; that will not be accepted, that will not be countenance.’’

When asked why he was making the claims when former presidents, Rawlings, Mahama and late Mills did not become despots despite some attitudes of their assigns yet is claiming that, Nana Addo is becoming a despot he said, when you have a group as the Invisible Forces who are loyal to the president, and engaging in lawlessness, then it will be proper to say that Nana Addo is gradually becoming a despot.
