Akufo–Addo: ‘I won’t allow my appointees embezzle state funds’

The 2016 flagbearer of the main opposition New Patriotic Party, Nana Akufo Addo has said he won’t allow his appointees to embezzle state funds, if he is elected as President.

“I have told members of the NPP, anybody who wants to be in government with the intention of coming to steal money; it will be impossible.

“Anybody with the intention of getting rich; go to the private sector that is where the money is, not in government service,” the former Attorney General told a party gathering at Madina in Accra, Sunday.

He said he has already urged his party members who may be keen on making money in his government, should he become President, to rather venture into private enterprises since that is where they can make money.

He said Ghanaians should take him by his words and vote for him in the 2016 elections.

“If God willing and I’m elected President, remember what I have said to you today”.

According to the former foreign Affairs Minister, his mission in politics is to serve the people and not to enrich himself.
