Akufo-Addo has already broken five campaign promises – Haruna Iddrisu

President Nana Akufo-Addo has so far broken five campaign promises in less than two months in office, according to the Minority National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Parliament.

Speaking at a news conference to dissect the 2017 budget statement of the Akufo-Addo administration, the Minority Leader Haruna Iddrisu mentioned the President’s broken promises below:

“Pay the arrears owed to contractors in the first 100 days of his administration. This was not captured in the budget;

“Pall all customers of DKM, God is Love, Jasper Motors among others who lost monies as a result of the microfinance scams in the Brong Ahafo region in particular but no mention was made of it in the budget;

“Reduce corporate tax from 25% to 20% but this was not captured in the budget; “Remove import duties on raw materials and machinery for production, reduce drivers’ insurance levies and cost of licence; and immediately reduce electricity tariffs and transportation fares but this was missing in the budget.”

According to the Minority Leader, the budget of the Akufo-Addo administration fell short of what was required to demonstration that the NPP will meet the promises made in their 2016 manifesto and on the campaign trail.
