Akufo-Addo: Economic confidence will be restored under NPP

Leader of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo says his foremost priority if elected to power will be bringing “back macroeconomic stability to the management of the economy”.

“Without it all our efforts will get down to naught”.

Nana Addo was speaking on Wednesday, February 4 during a symposium in honour of the 50th anniversary of the death of Dr Joseph Boakye Danquah.

J.B Danquah, regarded as one of the pioneers in the fight for independence, died on February 4, 1965 while in detention at the Nsawam Medium Security Prison.

Nana Addo chastised the government for worsening an already challenged economy, he says.

“Petrol prices remain high today, only because our government did not have the competence to keep our currency stable.”

He promised that an Akufo-Addo-led NPP government will “bring back confidence in the economy so that businesses and families can plan their budgets properly.

“What the NPP will do differently is that we will bring back that confidence. We will ensure fiscal discipline on how taxpayers’ monies are spent and ensure macroeconomic stability.”

The lecture was attended by Former President John Agyekum Kufuor and other functionaries of his government.
