Akufo-Addo dared to campaign against tribal voting in Ashanti too

Accra, July 11, GNA – Nii Amasah Namoale, Member of Parliament for Dadekotopon, has lauded Nana Akufo-Addo’s campaign against voting on tribal lines, but dared him to preach the same in Ashanti and Eastern Regions.

Speaking to the Ghana News Agency on Friday in Accra, the MP said: “Nana Akufo-Addo’s message against voting on tribal lines in the Volta and Northern regions is good, but if he is sincere about it, he should to do the same in Ashanti and Eastern Regions.

“We have heard him loud and clear but he should not dilute the message when he gets to the Ashanti and Eastern Regions,” Nii Namoale, who is a National Democratic Congress (NDC) MP in Parliament said. Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), he said, was reported to have pleaded with the people of Volta and the North during his campaign tour to stop the “one-way-voting” and vote to retain the NPP for continuity.

At the north, Nana Akufo-Addo was quoted as: “Times have changed and you need to move with it and change your entrenched positions and vote for me in the December elections to bring development to your doorstep no matter where you are coming from.”

Nii Namoale stressed the need for political parties to be sincere to Ghanaians in their campaign messages and issues that were devoid of hatred and acrimony for the good of the nation. “We are all Ghanaians and one people so our ethnic background should not divide but rather unite us,” he said.
