Akufo-Addo camp panics as Alan faction braces up

The recent prominent presence in Ghana of a leading member of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr. Alan John Kwadwo Kyeremanteng, was not for nothing.

Currently with the World Trade Organization (WTO), Mr. Kyeremanteng, per this paper’s intelligent sources within the NPP, was in Ghana to put in place structures and campaign teams towards the forthcoming elections; a move that will ultimately end up in the election of the 2016 NPP’s flagbearer.

Per the revised NPP constitution, elections would have to be held at the polling stations; constituency, regional and national levels. Those elected at these levels would form the National Electoral College to elect the party’s flagbearer.

The revised NPP constitution also states that in the event that the number of candidates exceeds five, the national executives will plume the list down to five.

Now, the Akufo-Addo faction, according to credible information available to The Informer, is panicking, realizing that their preferred candidate, Dr. “pink sheet” Mahamudu Bawumia, will be no match for Mr. Kwadwo Kyeremanteng, popularly known as “Alan Cash”.

The Akufo-Addo camp has been trying to instigate party executives that the next flagbearer of the party should not be an Ashanti, insider sources hinted this paper.

Meanwhile, recent media reports have indicated that over ten leading members of the NPP are interested in contesting for the 2016 flagbearership slot of the party. They include Dr. Bawumia, Papa Owusu-Ankomah, Isaac Osei, and Dr. Matthew Opoku-Prempeh.

They rest are; Dr. Kofi Konadu Apraku, Joe Ghartey, Yaw Osarfo Marfo and Boakye Agyarko, the 2012 campaign manager of Nana Addo.
