Akuafo Hall honours best students

Accra, March 12, GNA – About 102 graduating Akuafo Hall students who have excelled during the 2003/2004 Academic year examinations were on Saturday, presented with certificate of commendation and gifts by the Hall’s Administration at the University of Ghana, Legon. The recipients included 70 Degree students who obtained First Class in their various disciplines and 32 Diploma students who obtained Distinction.

Each of the best students received a certificate of commendation and some cash award. The presentation was administered by the Hall Master Rev. Dr. Cephas Omenyo, Director of Accra City Campus Prof. John Wiredu, Rev. Dr. Ellias Essiama and Rev. Dr. S.W.K. Gbewonyo all senior tutors of the Hall.

In an interview with GNA, Rev. Dr. Cephas Omenyo, said for the past five years, only letters of commendations were given to their best students and added that as from this year the Akuafo Hall administration decided to boost the morale of the best students of the Hall by giving them certificates of commendation. Rev. Dr. Omenyo congratulated the students on behalf of the Hall, staff and members and called on the graduating students to return to the University to pursue their postgraduate courses. He also announced that the Hall’s Jubilee anniversary would come off in October 2005.

In attendance at the Award Ceremony were workers of the Hall, parents of graduating students, some Senior Tutors and the UTAG Secretary, Dr. John Ofosu-Anim who is also an alumnus of the Hall.
