Akroso to benefit from micro-projects

The Birim South District Assembly and GTZ, a German Non- Governmental Organisation are assisting the Akroso community in the Eastern Region, to complete development projects estimated at over two billion cedis.

The projects include a 300 million -cedi electrification and a 1.4- billion cedi mechanised borehole. Nana Kwaku Afrawuah IV, chief of Akim Akroso, made this known after inspecting a 15- mile track work for the power project between Akroso and Asuboa.

The community is felling trees along the track while surveyors are preparing the ground to erect 200 high-tension poles for the project.

Nana Afrawuah said the contractor has provided chain saw machines, fuel and food for communal labour workers to facilitate the project.

The chief said 215 low tension poles purchased by the people at a cost of 64.5 million cedis for the power project initiated 12 years ago, have been erected.
