AKISS and others get assistance

Akim Swedru, Jan. 31, GNA- The Akim Swedru Nkosuo Kuo, a benevolent society in the UK, on Tuesday, presented assorted items and books valued at over 100 million cedis to the Akim Swedru Secondary School (AKISS), some basic schools and a local clinic in the town. The items included computers and accessories, sewing machines, home science equipment, refrigerators, chairs, toys, used clothing and wheelchairs.

Presenting the items, Mrs Joyce Konneh, an executive member of the association, announced that the group had instituted a scholarship scheme for citizens of the town, saying six students of AKISS were currently enjoying the scheme.

She promised that the association would continue to provide schools in the town with the necessary logistics to enhance teaching and learning.

Mrs Konneh urged students of AKISS to be disciplined and learn hard so that they could become useful citizens in the further. The headmaster of AKISS, the Very Reverend Abraham Osei Donkor, on behalf of the beneficiaries, thanked the association for the gesture and appealed to the association to assist the school with photocopy machines and printers.

He gave the assurance that the items would be put to good use to motivate the association to continue to support the school.
