Akim Oda, April 28, GNA – The Akim Oda High Court presided over by Mr Justice E. B. K. Agbloyor has adjourned to May 3 a case in which an industrialist and his assistant are seeking perpetual injunction to restrain Obrempong Sintim Poku III, the Akim Mansohene, from trespassing on a land at Akim Batabi.
Joined in the suit are Mr and Mrs Leo, owners of the “Tongdak” company limited, a Chinese sawmill.
In his statement of claim Mr Felix Nana Hackman, the first plaintiff about four years ago he and his assistant Mr Appiah Kwao, the second plaintiff, acquired a peace of land from the chief and elders of Batabi and established a poultry, water treatment and sheep rearing on it. Plaintiffs said in August 2004, the first defendant, without any cause entered the land with a group of people to forcibly pull down fences and other structures and put a “Stop order notice” to stop their workers from working.
They said the first defendant had since granted the land to the second defendant for a sawmill project.
“As a result of the first defendant’s conduct, serious damage has been caused to our property, business has also been crippled while a large number of our sheep, fowls and eggs have been stolen due to the pulling down of the fences,” the plaintiffs stated. 28 April 05
