Akatsi North to honour late Biakoye DCE

The Akatsi North District Assembly is to organise a sanitation exercise on Friday, July 31, in honour of the late Nana Luis Akata, Former District Chief Executive (DCE) of Biakoye.

The late Akata, died in May this year, after a short illness and would be buried on Saturday, August 1.

Mr James Gunu, Akatsi North DCE, who briefed the Ghana News Agency (GNA), described the late Akata as an ambassador of cleanliness in the Region, hence the initiative.

He said Akata was known for his stance on maintaining a clean environment and championing it, so it’s appropriate to bid him farewell with such an exercise.

Mr Gunu said the clean-up exercise, which coincides with the national sanitation exercise this Saturday, has the blessings of the district sanitation implementation committee and traditional authorities of Ave-Dakpa.

Mr Gunu said the District has banned public funerals this Saturday to ensure full participation.

He said the clean-up exercise would go alongside a tree planting exercise with support from personnel of the Forestry Commission to minimise rainstorm disasters in the District.
