Akamba Committee ends public sittings

Accra, Nov 8, GNA – The five-member Committee of Inquiry investigating allegations of abuse of office and corruption against Mr. Kwaku Ansa-Asare, Director of the Ghana School of Law (GSL), on Tuesday ended its public sittings.

The Committee would however, continue working on information it has gathered as well as other aspects of the case.

The Committee, chaired by Justice Joseph Bawa Akamba was set up by Mr. Ayikoi Otoo, Attorney General and adopted by the General Legal Council (GLC), the governing body of the GSL.

The Committee, which stated its public sittings in August 2005, had over 20 witnesses who were mainly from the GSL appearing before it.

The allegations, which ranged from misappropriation of funds to wrongful dismissals were all denied by the GSL Director.
