(Traditional Ruler) of Ajumako Assin Tweikukrom, has asked parents not to shirk their responsibilities towards the proper upbringing of their children.

He stressed that children who are raised without proper training grow up to become social liabilities to the nation. Nana Brempong made the request at the weekend, during a ceremony to climax the annual Ahorba festival, which was observed by the chiefs and people of Ajumako Assin Tweikukroom.

The Ahorba festival is celebrated by Fantes in remembrance of one Opanyin Ahore, who presented himself to be sacrificed to the gods in order to save his people from calamities like hunger and diseases. The festival precedes the annual Akwanbo festival, which is marked by some ethic groups in the Central Region. The Odikro expressed the need for the youth to be counselled in order to grow up to become useful citizens. Nana Brempong urged the youth to lead desce nt lifestyles and desist from immoral and other anti-social acts that could lead them into destruction.

He advised them to desist from alcoholism and drugs abuse, which could endanger their lives. Nana Brempong called on the people to rekindle their communal spirit to ensure early completion of development projects in the community. The Ebusuapanyin (Family Head) of the town, Nana Kojo Barssabil push for unity of purpose among the people, to champion the development of the town. He reminded them that without unity and peace no meaningful development could take place.
