Accra, May 1, GNA – The African Institute of Journalism and Communication (AIJC) has named its library after the late Sam Quaicoe who was the Director of Studies of the Institute.
In a tribute at a burial service at the Margaret Mary Catholic Church at Dansoman, Mr. Ato Amoanyin, Director of the Institute said Mr. Quaicoe contributed immensely to the growth of the Institute. He said as a pioneer member of staff, Mr. Quaicoe was equipped with the journalistic, legal and academic experience so much needed for the take-off of the Institute.
Mr. Amoanyin said Mr. Quaicoe performed excellently both as a lecturer and counsellor/mentor for both students and staff. He added that the late Mr. Quaicoe demonstrated an immeasurable degree of dedication and resilience, remaining focused even in the face of adversities.
Mr. Amoanyin noted that the AIJC has decided to honour the deeds and name of Mr. Quaicoe by naming the Institute’s Library and Resource Centre after him.
“For ever and ever, our newly-named Sam Quaicoe Library and Information Resource Centre will keep his name and deed alive in our memory and in the memory of future generations”, he added. Mr. Kojo Yankah, former Ashanti Regional Minister, a Journalist, an Author and former Director of the Ghana Institute of Journalism founded the AIJC.
