Wa, May 09, GNA – Maulvi A Wahab Adam, Ameer and Missionary in charge of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Mission, Ghana, has said the international headquarters of the mission would soon send experts on the alternative sources of energy to explore the possibility of using windmills and solar energy to generate power. This would help to improve the living conditions of rural people and complement the efforts of the government in its rural electrification programme.
Maulvi Adam said this at Wa during the 46th Regional conference of the Upper West Region Ahmadiyya Muslim Mission. He said Ghana has a lot of natural resources but is unable to develop effectively due to lack of human resources and expertise. The Ameer advised Muslims to be tolerant, to co-operate with other religious bodies and to listen to views from others.
Mr Ambrose Dery, the Upper West Regional Minister, commended the Ahmadiyya Mission for contributing to the socio-economic development of the country through the provision of schools, agriculture and health facilities.
Mr Dery called on the leadership of the Mission to educate the youth on HIV/AIDS and health insurance programmes. He said HIV/AIDS had assumed a pandemic status that required concerted efforts to curb its spread. “The youth especially should be given good attention in order to safeguard the future leaders to keep the mantle glowing”. The conference attracted faithful from all over the region and would deal with issues relating to the development of the country. 09 May 05
