Ahanta West NDC elects officers

Agona-Nkwanta (W/R), Nov. 13, GNA – Twelve of the 13 executive members of the Ahanta West constituency of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) were retained at a delegate’s congress at Agona-Nkwanta on Saturday.

With the exception of the post of secretary, which went to Mr Mohammed Arthur, who defeated the incumbent Mr Alfred Odoom-Coffie, by polling 52 votes to 32, all the other positions were declared unopposed. Mr Paul Gyimah, self-employed, Mr Musah Daw and Nana Kwasi Asmah retained the posts of constituency chairman, first vice-chairman and second vice-chairman respectively.

Those who retained their posts included Mr Joseph Dofoyena, assistant secretary, Mr Isaac Quainoo, organiser, Mr Patrick Kenyah, assistant organiser, Mr Douglas Ebenzer Obboye; youth organiser and Mr Stephen musah; assistant youth organiser.

The rest were Mr Joseph Kofi Dovlo; treasurer, Madam Marian Raji; women organiser, Madam Susana Juantuah; assistant women organiser and Mr Joseph Ansah; propaganda secretary.

Officials from the Electoral Commission led by Mr Nat Quaye, District Electoral Officer conducted the elections. Mr Isaac Zorblewu a representative of the national executive committee of the party led a team to supervise the elections, which were orderly and peaceful.

He asked NDC supporters and sympathisers to remain loyal to the party and not to be distracted by vile propaganda of their opponents. Mr Zorblewu urged the constituency executives to work to rejuvenate party activities towards victory in 2008 elections.

Madam Marian Raji said members would not relent in their efforts to capture the Ahanta West constituency from the New Patriotic Party in the forthcoming elections and urged members of the party to remain focused.
