Ahafo-Ano South: GHC96,668 stolen with forged signatures

An official at the finance department of the Ahafo-Ano South District Assembly, is being questioned by the Mankranso police over the alleged theft of an amount of GH¢ 96,668.84 belonging to the assembly.

Felix Fordjour, is being treated as the prime suspect and helping the police to unravel how the money got missing from the assembly’s account.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) John Adusei, the District Commander, confirmed this to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) and said the theft was detected when an attempt by assembly to withdraw the money failed.

Signatures of the District Finance Officer and the District Coordinating Director had been forged to cash the amount from an account at the National Investment Bank (NIB).

DSP Adusei said they would go to every length to get to the bottom of the matter and bring to justice anybody connected to the crime.

This, is the second time, the assembly has been hit by financial misdeeds.
