Ahafo-Ano North records 63.4 per cent at this year’s BECE

Tepa (Ash), Sept. 3, GNA – Six hundred and thirty-nine out of 1,007 candidates in the Ahafo-Ano North District in Ashanti Region who sat for this year’s Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) were successful representing 63.4 per cent.

In all, 26 junior secondary schools took part in the examination in the District.

Commenting on the results, Mrs Dora Doris Amaniampong, District Director of Education, said the results fell short of that of last year’s when out of 939 candidates who sat for the examination, 618 representing 65.8 per cent passed.

She did not apportion blame in the drop in the result but appealed to parents to take the education of their children seriously, particularly to ensure effective supervision of their studies at home after classes.

Mrs Amaniampong expressed the hope that if all stakeholders in education in the district played their roles effectively and co-operated with the education directorate and teachers, there would be remarkable improvement next year.
