The chief, who is on admission at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) Hospital, sustained bruises and abrasions when the vehicle somersaulted after one of the front tyres had burst. Dr Yaw Bio, Director of the KNUST Health Services, told the Ghana News Agency in Kumasi on Wednesday that Agyewodin Ampem was responding to treatment.

He stated that, “Given his high recovery rate, he would soon be discharged from the hospital when we are satisfied with the state of his condition”.

The KNUST Health Director said Mrs Kesse and Mr Yeboah who sustained minor injuries were treated and discharged. The GNA also learnt that Nana Saah, who was sent to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH), was responding to treatment and could be discharged soon.

Agyewodin Ampem and the other victims were on their way to Kumasi after attending Ghana’s 50th independence anniversary celebration in Accra.

When contacted, Inspector Mohammed Tanko of the Ashanti Regional Public Relations Unit confirmed the accident and said investigations were going on.
