Agyemankrom devastated by fire, rainstorm

Agyemankrom (B/A), March 3, GNA – A violent rainstorm has left nine buildings destroyed and occupants displaced at Agyemankrom in the Dormaa District, barely 72 hours after a blazing bushfire swept through several farms in the area.

Paa George, Assembly Member, told the Ghana News Agency that victims of the rainstorm were putting up with friends and relatives. He said the bushfire destroyed several acres of cocoa and food crop farms and the affected farmers were located at Agyemankrom, Antwirifo, Dabebi and Apaukrom. The Assembly Member said Opanin Kofi Krah; a former District Chief Farmer lost 47 acres of cocoa while Emmanuel Adu Kwasi, chairman of the Unit Committee at Agyemankrom lost 10 acres of the crop. Paa George said pupils of the St. George’s International School, which was affected by the rainstorm, were putting up in a temporary structure and appealed to Dormaa Municipal Assembly and NADMO to assist victims of the disasters.
