Agyeman-Manu: I didn’t challenge Prez Mahama

The Public Accounts Committee Chairman Kwaku Agyemang-Manu has denied media reports that he challenged the president on issues related to the committee’s work.

President Mahama criticized the committee for not making appropriate recommendations to assist the Executive in dealing with issues related to protection of the State purse.

The president also cautioned the committee not to use the platform to disgrace governments of the day as has been the practice.

However, before the commencement of Tuesday’s sitting, Agyemang-Manu indicated in clear terms that his response was not to challenge the president as widely reported by the media.

“Unfortunately, yesterday what happened here has been reported that the PAC Chairman challenges the President, I wouldn’t have bothered if I did anything that can constitute to such a challenge.

“But unfortunately I don’t think I remember having uttered anything could be constituted to a challenge of the President,” the PAC chairman said.
