AG’s Waterville ‘glory theft’ attempt “provocative” – Kweku Baako

Editor-in-Chief of the Crusading Guide newspaper, Abdul Malik Kwaku Baako, Junior has described as “provocative” and “disingenuous”, the attempt by the Attorney General’s department to share in the glory of former Attorney General Martin Amidu’s Supreme Court victory in the Waterville judgment debt saga.

Deputy Attorney General, Dr. Dominic Ayine, in a statement on Wednesday June 19, 2013 said the department provided material and research services to Mr. Amidu in his suit against Waterville holding, business man Alfred Woyome, Austro Invest and the AG’s Department, in his attempt to retrieve all judgment debts paid to the four defendants illegally.

However, Mr. Amidu, in a counter-statement wondered how the AG, who was a defendant in the case, could have helped him, the plaintiff, in Court.

Speaking on Metro TV’s Good morning Ghana programme on Thursday, Kweku Baako said the attempt by the Deputy Attorney general to rob Mr. Amidu of his glory is unnerving.

“I don’t know why the Attorney General, in this case, the deputy Attorney General will do this; what is his problem?” He asked.

“That thing he issued was not only disingenuous; it was actually provocative and self seeking”, he stressed.

He observed that the ruling by the Supreme Court makes it clear that the state did not offer any assistance to Mr. Amidu in his suit.
