AGPN congratulates Otumfuo

Kumasi, March 27, GNA – The Ashanti Graduates and Professional Network (AGPN) a youth organisation based in Kumasi, on Monday congratulated Otumfuo Osei Tutu 11, the Asantehene, on his appointment as the Chancellor of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST).

In a statement signed by Mr Andy Osei Okrah, President of the organisation, the AGPN said the investiture of Otumfuo Osei Tutu as the Chancellor, which was the first of its kind in the history of the university, had brought a lot of dignity and honour to Asanteman and the country as a whole.

It said the appointment was also in recognition of Otumfuo Osei Tutu’s lifetime contributions and achievement in chieftaincy, education, health, leadership, socio-economics, governance, business and environment.

The statement said the Otumfuo Education Fund from which most of the members of the organisation had benefited continued to give hope to many students irrespective of their background.

It said the outstanding accomplishment and initiative of Otumfuo Osei Tutu to national development had influenced “more than our generation of leaders. Moreover, your example has set a standard of clarity, elegance and beauty for kings”.

The statement said members of the organisation cherished the unique leadership and wisdom of Otumfuo Osei Tutu and commended him for his numerous achievements and distinguished service to the nation and for humanity.

It said Asante professionals and intellectuals all over the globe were honoured by the appointment and expressed the hope that his tenure would be marked with fruitfulness and tremendous achievements.
