Agona West NPP organises float

Agona Swedru (C/R), December 6, GNA – The Agona West Constituency branch of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) at the weekend organised a float and a keep-fit exercise at Agona Swedru to round off the campaign for Election 2004.

The six-hour float included more than 10 vehicles full of party supporters clad in NPP T-shirts and scarves.

Accompanied with a brass band and other musical groups, the float drove through Agona Abodom, Lower Bobikuma, Upper Bobikuma, Kwaman, Nyakrom, Nkum and ended at Swedru.

Some of the people in the crowd that the Ghana News Agency (GNA) spoke to predicted 90 per cent win for President John Agyekum Kufuor and about 80 per cent for Mr Samuel Kweku Obodai, the Parliamentary Candidate.

At Agona Nyakrom mourners going to cemetery abandoned the funeral procession to cheer the Party supporters on the float shouting NPP slogans, “NPP two sure two direct”; “One touch no second round” and “So far so very good”.

Addressing the Party supporters after the procession, Mr Obodai said the enthusiastic crowd had shown that they had appreciated President Kufuor’s four-year term and were going to renew the mandate of the NPP on Tuesday.

He promised that he would do his best when given the nod and asked the electorate to reject the National Democratic Congress (NDC) because it had nothing to offer the nation.
