Agona Kwankyako (C/R), Sept. 4, About 700 cassava growers within Agona Kwankyako in the Central Region have organised themselves into a co-operative society under the Ghana National Association of Farmers and Fishermen (GNAFF). The secretary of the association, Mr. Elias Adika said the move was to enable them to fight for good prices for their products and devise means of producing cassava chips for export. Mr. Adika expressed his appreciation to the National Organiser of GNAFF, Mr. Emmanuel Tetteh Danyo, for inspiring them to form the association. Mr. Danyo assured members of their support and the encouragement from the national executive of GNAFF and urged them to work hard to meet their objectives. He said the nation requires more dedicated farmers who are prepared to diversify their activities to earn more money for themselves and the nation. Mr. Danyo who is also a director of the Volta Region Farmers Services Company (FASCOM), said export of cassava chips had already been initiated by FASCOM and was yielding fruitful results and hoped members of the association would benefit from the programme.
