Agona District Assembly exceeds revenue target

Agona Swedru, April 8, GNA- The Agona District Assembly collected 1.105 billion cedis out of the 1.115 billion cedis target for 2003.

Mr John Kwesi Agyabeng, District Chief Executive for Agona announced this at the first ordinary session of the assembly at Swedru.

He said a total of 72.6 million cedis has been collected for January 2004 and urged the assembly especially the revenue department to redouble their efforts to improved their performance.

The DCE noted that the assembly is to spend 5 billion cedis on projects this year in the areas of education and sanitation.

He said the district was to be provided with 20 boreholes under the Village and Infrastructure Project(VIP) but as at the end of last year, only 12 were had been completed.

He noted that the unfortunate communities would be considered under the DANIDA water and sanitation programme yet to start in the Central Region this year.

Nana Yaw Kobiri, Presiding member of the assembly said under the private partnership projects, one million dollars citrus factory would be established in the district.
