Agona District Assembly exceeded revenue target

The Agona District Assembly’s revenue collectors collected 917,903,475.28 cedis, as against its target of 774,606,480 last year, Mr John Kwesi Agyabeng, the District Chief Executive, said.

Addressing the ordinary session of the assembly he said 2003 would be another success story for revenue collection.

Mr Agyabeng said development projects and programmes in education, health and sanitation have taken off and are at various stages of completion.

On the execution of European Union (EU) Micro-projects, he expressed regret that some communities were not living up to expectation. ”Last year the district was nearly blacklisted because of the people’s lukewarm attitude”, he said.

Mr Adjabeng said the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development had allocated refuse equipment to the Assembly to improve its sanitation.

Nana Yaw Kobiri, the Presiding Member commended the revenue department and proposed an incentive package for the collectors.
