Agona Abodom gets new Mbrantsehene

Agona Abodom (C/R), Aug 14, GNA – Mr John Kofi Sam, a tutor of the Adisadel College in Cape Coast has been introduced as the Development Chief of Agona Abodom.

with a call on the people to foster unity to ensure peace and development.

He said his priority was to promote education, which was the key to socio-economic advancement of every child.

Mr Sam stated this when he addressed members of the Agona Abodom Development Association during the celebration of the Akwambo Festival to draw plans to improve living conditions of the town.

He said the development of every nation depended on education and called on parents and guardians to send their children and wards especially the girls to school.

Mr Sam noted that a committee had been set up by the Association to look into the reasons for the poor performance of Junior Secondary School (JSS) students in the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE)in the past years.

Mr Sam stressed that some of the committee findings include parents lack education that was why they had shirked their responsibilities and could not encourage their children to attain higher education. He said the committee would also find ways of motivating teachers to put in their best.

Mr Sam stated that the Association would institute a scholarship to assist brilliant but needy students to continue their education to the highest level and appealed to citizens of the town to help make it reality.

Mr Mike Ayensu, Chairman of the Association, said were working to improve health, education and sanitation in the town. He called on the members resident outside the town to visit home regularly help in the implementation of development programmes.
