Agogo (Ash), Oct. 10, GNA- The first batch of students of the School of Health and Medical Sciences of the Presbyterian University College, has enrolled at the Ashanti Akim Campus of the University, at Agogo in the Ashanti Region.
They consist of 25 males and 28 females including students from other countries within the West African sub-region.
The University College has three campuses in Abetifi and Akropong in the Eastern Region and Agogo in the Ashanti Region.
Professor Sraku-Lartey, Principal of the University, inducting the students, expressed his appreciation to the Agogo Presbyterian Church for raising funds for the building of a hostel for the university.
He also commended the Agogo community and the Ashanti Akim North District Assembly for supporting the University.
Prof Sraku Lartey praised Nana Akuoko Sarpong, Omanhene of Agogo and the Agogo Traditional Council for providing resources, and accommodation that enabled the University to take off.
He said the occasion was momentous in the nearly 200 years of the Church’s activities in the country, which were pioneered by the Basel Missionaries.
Prof. Lartey said Agogo was chosen for the Medical School because of its long history of health delivery that spanned nearly 100 years.
