Agitations over MMDCEs: Kabore urges rampaging youth to wait till 2018

The Ashanti Regional Communication Secretary of the governing New Patriotic Party, Moro Kabore, has admonished disgruntled members of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) to wait till 2018 to exercise their power of voting for candidates to represent them at their various Municipalities and Districts.

There have been agitations by some NPP youth over the nominations of Municipal Metropolitan District Executives (MMDCEs) by the President.

Mr Kabore in an exclusive interview with Ultimate FM condemned the reactions of these rampaging youth who have been vandalizing properties including party billboards following the announcement of the nominated MMDCEs on Wednesday by the president.

According to him, it is only the President who has the power to determine who represents him at the various MMDAs saying any attempt by any group of persons to block the confirmation of these nominees will be to question the wisdom and the judgement of the President in exercising his constitutional powers.

He therefore pleaded with the disgruntled and dissatisfied members to bid their time as an opportunity will be offered them to determine who they want to represent them in 18 months’ time.

‘They should exercise maximum restraint and wait till 2018 to choose their candidates,’ he entreated.

Kabore also asked law enforcement agencies to rise up to the task and deal ruthlessly with persons who may want to take the law into their own hands.
