Agbozume and Klikor residents protest against Indian salt factory

Residents of some communities within the Somee traditional area in the Ketu South municipality of the Volta region are demonstrating against the activities of the Indian Salt Factory in the area.

The communities which share the lagoon with the Kessington Salt factory say the activities of the company is adversely affecting their livelihood.

The residents mostly from Agbozume and Klikor say the extraction of salt from the lagoon by the Indian company has polluted their source of potable water.

Ultimate news’ Lambert Atsivor reported that this protest follows a similar one by their counterparts at Adina against the same company which turned bloody and claimed one life.

The aggrieved residents who are marching several kilometres from Agbozume to Municipal assembly at Tokor-Denu, are demanding a closure of the salt factory to safeguard their lives.
