Agbontor elected NPP candidate for Buem

Jasikan (V/R), Oct. 26, GNA – Mr Bob Charles Agbontor, 41, a Civil Engineer, was on Wednesday elected as the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Parliamentary Candidate for the Buem Constituency for Election 2004. He polled 49 of the 76 votes against five others, who contested with him.

Mr Michael Asante-Adjei, a Civil Servant, polled 11 votes while Mr Kodjo Adjei, a Public Servant, polled eight with Mr Kwabena Winfred Mensah, a Legal Practitioner polling four.

Madam Agnes Ampem-Darko, an Educationist and the only female in the race also polled four.

Mr Bafour Antor, a Civil Servant, who was the sixth contestant failed to turn up for the primaries, which was conducted by officials of the Jasikan District Electoral Commission (EC).

Mr Kenwood Nuworsu, Volta Regional Chairman of the Party, urged Mr Agbontor to defend the Party’s constitution.

In his acceptance speech, Mr Agbontor thanked the delegates for the confidence and trust reposed in him and urged supporters to do away with in- fighting to enable him to win the seat.

Present were Mr Kofi Adjei-Ntim and Mr Solomon Kwame Donkor, Kadjebi and Jasikan District Chief Executives (DCEs), respectively.
