Africans need God fearing leaders

Accra, Sept. 8, GNA- Mrs. Gifty Affenyi-Dadzie, Member of the Council of State on Saturday said African needs leaders with impeccable integrity and God fearing attitudes to ensure a restoration of the continent.

“African needs leaders who would not subdue to any influence even in crucial times but would apply measures that conform to biblical principles of selflessness, righteousness, honesty, discipline and obeying Godly counsellors “, she said.

Speaking at a Graduation ceremony organised by the Salt Institute, a leadership training school in Accra on the theme: ” Leadership That Would Bring Transformation”, Mrs. Affenyi-Dadzie said it was only when the continent acknowledged the need for restoration that it could fashion out strategies to attain the desired result.

She said, like the Biblical character, Nehemiah, leaders should aspire to holiness and be prayerful since without these attributes their achievements could easily fade away in the face of the least challenge. Mrs. Affenyi-Dadzie, who is also a past President of the Ghana Journalists Association commended the Institute for providing leadership training that focuses on using Christian principles to change leadership and urged the grandaunts to see the skills acquired as foundation to transform society.

The Member of the Council of State also prayed for a peaceful, prosperity, and abundant righteousness that would bring the nation into an era of complete jubilation.

Dr. Fatima Alabo, Programme Coordinator for the Institute, said it was the Institute’s vision to train and build leaders who would discern the redemptive purpose of God to translate them into reality. She said the grandaunts were taken through a highly interactive and non-formal adult education with emphasis on training in character, relationships, and spiritual development to move the continent forward. ” God has endowed us with many resources, but due to inadequately equipped leaders our people continue to be hewers of wood and drawers of germ infected water,” Dr Alabo added.
