African leaders urged to make AU effective

The people of Adweso in the Koforidua Municipality, have observed African Union Day with mass sports activities and aerobics, during which over 500 residents of the area took part in a two-hour walk and aerobics to improve their health.

The walk was organized by the Adehyie Keep Fit Club of the Adweso Low Cost Estates.

Addressing the gathering after the exercise, the New Juaben Municipal Chief Executive, Dr Kweku Owusu Acheampong, urged African leaders to relinquish some of their national powers, which hindered the effectiveness of the African Union (AU).

He said, it was time African countries promoted strong international trade among themselves, to promote the economic development of the continent, and to create jobs for the youth.
