African American philanthropist donates to Akyem Kokobeng JHS

Akyem Kokobeng (E/R), Oct. 24, GNA – Ms Koumba Kiyarrah Noni, an African-American philanthropist, on Tuesday donated two computers and their accessories worth 35 million cedis to the Akyem Kokobeng Junior High School in the Birim South District. She also adopted four girls, Doreen Asiedua, Dorcas Annor, Hagar Ayiwa and Gifty Oduraa of the Kokobeng Primary School for sponsorship up to the university level.

The gesture followed the installation of Ms Noni as the Nkosuohemaa of the community under the stool name Nana Akua Awuah II. Swearing the oath of allegiance to the chiefs and people, Nana Awuah promised to woo investors to the area to establish cottage industries to provide employment, especially to the youth. She stressed the importance of education and urged parents to send their children to school to be able to play useful roles in society. Nana Awuah appealed to the school authorities to take good care of the items to prolong their life span. Obarima Odofur II, Chief of Akyem Kokobeng, thanked the Nkosuohemaa for her generosity and said the computers had come at the right time when the country was embarking on an educational reform. He expressed the hope that teachers in the school would use the items for the intended purpose so that the school children would not be left behind in the Information Technology age.
