Accra, Nov. 13, GNA – Over 48 renowned African-American envoys will arrive in Ghana on Friday, Nov. 18, ostensibly to explore the nation’s potential investment areas, Mr Henric David Yeboah, MP for Afigya-Sekyere East Constituency announced.
They are into education, banking, tourism, housing, construction and other developments of mutual benefits to them and the nation at large. Mr Yeboah, who disclosed this to the Ghana News Agency on Saturday in an interview in Accra said the business icons’ tour, was a response to the government’s call for foreign investors to invest in Ghana.
He said the envoys’ decision to invest in Ghana to facilitate national economic growth and job creation further underscored African-Americans sensitivity to the plight of the people of the African continent.
The team included Leonard Murray of Law Offices of Murray, Michelle Hooper, the Directors’ Council, Jeanna Bridges of Harris Bank, North America and Willie Carrington of Carrington and Carrington Limited.
A Ghanaian artist, based in the United States, Professor Samuel Akainya of Kennedy King College and Akainya Gallery in Chicago, will lead the team.
Ms. Pamela E. Bridgewater, U. S. ambassador to Ghana, Mr Yeboah (MP) and Mr Kojo Armah, MP for Evalue/Edwira Constituency will jointly host the envoys for their 10 days stay in Ghana.
The team will call on the President, Mr John Agyekum Kufuor at the Osu Castle and also visit areas of interest in Accra, Elmina and Kumasi. Mr Yeboah, who captured the mind of the envoys said, they would definitely invest in Ghana after their preliminary tour of the country, because they were more concerned about creation of job for the Ghanaian youth than any other consideration.
He stated that the reduced corporate taxes to 25 per cent from 28 per cent would further deepen the envoys’ desire to invest in the country.
