Afoko’s demonstrators are known NDC activists – Karbo

A deputy Communications Director of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Anthony Abayifa Karbo, says some supporters of the suspended National Chairman, Paul Awentime Afoko, who picketed at the party’s headquarters on Thursday, are known NDC activists.

“I saw one or two NDC party activists who come from Upper West. I personally know one who is the NDC Wa East Youth Organiser, who was part of the demonstrators. But I am not surprised at all if you look at the way Koku Anyidoho and Solomon Nkansah have been fighting for Afoko,” he said in an interview with Akwasi Nsiah on Kasapa 102.3 FM.

The supporters, he argued, were all bused from Upper West with a promise that they were taking them for an excursion.

Over 500 supporters of the beleaguered suspended Chairman on Thursday stormed the party’s Headquarters and demanded the immediate reinstatement of Mr Afoko, and Acting National Chairman, Freddy Blay removed.

They said by the unfair treatment meted out to Mr Afoko, their efforts and toils in ensuring the development of the NPP have been derailed.

They consequently threatened to boycott the 2016 elections if Mr Afoko is not restored to his rightful position.

However, Karbo, commenting further, said once the party has received the petition, they would in “due time respond to it.”
