Credible information available to the Enquirer Newspaper is that the National Chairman of the New Patriotic Party, Mr. Paul Afoko pulled a gun on the Nasara Co-ordinator of the party, Mr. Kamal-deen Abdulai at a steering committee meeting at the party’s headquarters, after the latter’s insistence in disagreeing with him, Afoko, on an issue raised at the meeting.
As though this was not enough, Mr. Paul Afoko also pulled a gun on National Organiser of the party, Mr. John Boadu, at the same steering committee meeting, threating “to blow him up into little pieces.”
Sources at the NPP party headquarters tell the party that Mr. Afoko always strolls into the NPP headquarters with two loaded black semi-automatic pistols tucked comfortably at his side, with his smock concealing these weapons.
This development has resulted in an atmosphere of fear and trepidation on the part of the national officers who do not side with the pro-Alan Kyerematen officers namely Paul Afoko and Kwabena Agyepong.
“They are afraid to sit in meetings with Afoko because they have no idea when the chairman will pull out his gun and fire them for disagreeing with him. Afoko is on radio calling for unity, peace and calm and yet still carries guns to steering committee meetings threatening to kill his fellow national officers. What if he carries this gun to a steering National Executive Committee meeting and kills a presidential aspirant, we all know he does not like?” the source told the paper.
This development has resulted in the inability of a National Executive Committee meeting not being called because members of the committee fear the use of the weapon by Mr. Afoko.
Earlier on Thursday, the paper learnt that Mr. Afoko had reported one Hajia Fati to the Criminal Investigations Department of the Ghana Police Service for being behind the mayhem that ensued at the party’s headquarters last month.
It still remains unclear why Mr. Afoko would carry guns to work as chairman of the largest opposition party in Ghana. Attempts to reach Mr. Paul Afoko to state his side of the story have so far proved futile.
