An Accra magistrate court has begun hearing into the case involving Greggory Afoko, the man being accused of carrying the acid attack on the late Upper East regional chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Adams Mahama.
The suspect, who is believed to be the brother of the NPP’s national chairman Paul Afoko was arrested Thursday after the attack which led to the death of the regional chairman.
Starr News’ court correspondent Wilberforce Asare reports that the court has been besieged with party and family members who are anxious to hear the court’s direction on the matter. Asare reports also, that lawyers for the accused have expressed concerns over the charge sheet which associates their client with the national chairman of the opposition party.
Meanwhile, three regions – Central, Eastern and Volta – have passed a vote of no confidence in the national chairman Paul Afoko and the general secretary Kwabena Agyepong following their reported involvement in the killing of the Upper East regional chairman of the party Adams Mahama.
