Aflao youth demonstrate over Dangote Cement

Some youth in Aflao in the Volta region Thursday morning took to the streets to protest the importation of cement from neighboring Nigeria.

The youth say the situation is creating unemployment in the country while creating jobs for Nigerians.

They claim that the importation of cement brands such as Dangote has caused a massive fall in the production scale of locally-based Diamond Cement, which has a plant in the area and employs many of the youth.

According to them, their plea to the government through the trade ministry to intervene in the matter has been unanswered. They have therefore vowed to continue with their protest until the government addresses their concern.
