Afigya-Sekyere to benefit from water project

Agona (Ash), Aug 7, GNA – The Afigya-Sekyere District is among 11 districts in Ashanti and Eastern regions, which are to benefit from a 2.5 billion-cedi water project under the Rural Water and Sanitation Project.

Mr Ben Abankwa, District Chief Executive, who disclosed this to the Ghana News Agency at Agona at the weekend, said it would be a joint project between the governments of Ghana and Germany.

Under the project, he said, the district would get about 50 boreholes and 100 household toilets.

The DCE said the beneficiary districts and communities were expected to pay five per cent as counterpart funding towards the project, which would be completed by the end of November, this year. Mr Abankwa named the beneficiary communities in the district as Tabre, Dawu, Akrofoso, Bipoa, Domeabra, Nsuontem, Kona, Penteng, Abromah and Kyerekrom.

He appealed to the communities to pay their contributions promptly to ensure the completion of the projects on schedule.
