Afigya Sekyere NPP expels three members

New Patriotic Party (NPP) constituency executives at Afigya Sekyere East in the Ashanti Region have expelled Lt. Col. Serebour Ababio (rtd), the failed candidate in the party’s parliamentary primaries, and two others.

The executives’ decision follows the dismissed candidate’s intention to contest as an independent parliamentary candidate in the November polls.

Quoting from Article 3, subsection G and H of the party’s constitution, the constituency Secretary, Philip Baidoo, at a press conference Wednesday said Col. Serebour; and two of his supporters – Mavis Akon, a member of the constituency finance committee; and one Prince Amos Sarpong, Boanim Electoral Area coordinator – forfeit their membership of the NPP by their action.

Col. Serebour lost to Mavis Nkansah Boadu in the June 13 parliamentary primary, but alleged that the election was rigged, hence his decision to contest as an independent candidate.

Constituency Secretary, Baidoo Phillip, confirmed the dismissal of the three to ClassFMonline.com in an interview.
