Afigya-Sekyere East MP loses primaries

Bepoase (Ash), Aug 5, GNA – Mr Akwasi Akomea Kyeremateng, the Member of Parliament for Afigya-Sekyere East was the latest MP to lose the NPP primaries. He was beaten by Mr David Henry Yeboah, a 48-year-old Marketing Manager, who polled 63 votes against Mr Kyeremateng’s 35 votes to win the primaries.

Mr Yaw Nyarko, 56, a Director at the Ministry of Trade, Industry and President’s Special Initiatives, polled eight votes, while Nana Akua Afriyie, a teacher had six votes. The election was nearly thrown into confusion when, just before the voting was to begin, Mr Yeboah rushed to the dais to complain to about what he described as unconstitutional last minute campaign for Mr Kyeremateng.

Mr Sam Cudjoe, Ashanti Regional Secretary of the NPP, appealed to polling station chairmen to step up their efforts at ensuring unity in the party. “Don’t always blame the regional executives for whatever goes on wrong in the party. The responsibility of ensuring total victory for the Party lies with all of us”. Mr Yeboah thanked the delegates for voting for him and assured them that he would continue with all the development projects initiated by the MP.
