Afigya-Kwabre ends training for electoral officers

The Electoral Commission (EC) has organized training for officers involved in the conduct of the September 1 District Level elections in Afigya-Kwabre to ensure a smooth poll.

They include verification, presiding and name reference list officers and ballot issuers.

Mr. Kofi Sakyi Boampong, the District Director, who spoke to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at Kodie said, they had been adequately equipped to efficiently perform their assigned roles.

He expressed optimism that they would be more alert, vigilant and avoid petty mistakes – transposition errors that could affect the credibility of the polls.

Again, the expectation was that stakeholders – election officials, candidates and voters, would play by the rules to remove needless suspicion and misunderstanding.

He reminded the people to cooperate with the officials and conduct themselves well to make the elections peaceful.

Mr. Boampong gave the assurance that all the required materials, including ballot papers and biometric verification machines were ready and that he did not anticipate any problems.
