AFAG’s call for Ibrahim’s assets to be frozen are laughable – NDC

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has described as baseless calls by pressure group, Alliance for Accountable Governance (AFAG), for the immediate freezing of the assets of Ibrahim Mahama.

AFAG, on Wednesday, called for the freezing of the assets of Ibrahim Mahama, brother of President Mahama and owner of Engineers and Planners Company, while investigations are conducted into the ongoing brouhaha over a loan contracted by the President’s brother from Merchant Bank.

But a member of the NDC’s communication team, Felix Kwakye Ofosu told XYZ News the call is unreasonable and laughable to say the least

“You can do a cursory look and find out how many companies in Ghana owe banks and see whether it is a reasonable call to make… I think that it is important we rise above this petty politicking,” he said.

He said AFAG would have to demonstrate that they are not just doing the bidding of a political party in the cloak of fighting corruption.

Mr. Kwakye Ofosu stressed that the NDC and the president will not be swayed by the “gimmicks” of the NPP.
