Advice Rawlings First – Prez Spokesperson

The presidential spokesperson, Mr Kwabena Agyepong has asked the Christian Council and other groups who want to resolve the impasse between former president Rawlings and the president John Agyekum Kufuor to counsel the ex-president Rawlings first to guard his utterances on the president.

According to him, the sitting president has no bone to pick with Mr Rawlings but it is the ex-president who rains insults on the president at the least opportunity.

Speaking on Daybreak Kapital with Kwame Atuahene, Mr Agyepong said Ghanaians should speak out against the actions of the former president. He noted that though it is the right of the former president to express his thoughts and opinions he should respect the presidency. He added that government is not perturbed about his utterances which it considers as not worthy of consideration. He urged Ghanaians to ignore the ex-president and concentrate on how best to develop the country.

On the TUC?s call for a reduction in prices of fuel, Mr Agyepong said with the rise in the world market price of crude oil there is no way government can reduce fuel prices.
